We Tell Stories.

Our interest sits somewhere between narratives from contemporary Europe and the experiences of people of African descent, living in the diaspora, a reflection of the identity of our founder.

Republic of Story® was founded in 2010 as The Polkadot Factory by Victoria Thomas, as a vehicle to make short films, whilst studying for an MFA in film. Over the years, it has stayed active from its base in Scotland, facilitating the production of shorts and features across documentary and fiction, mostly as international co-productions between Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa in a servicing capacity. In 2020, during the pandemic, we went back to the drawing board to review our objectives, 10 years later. We rebranded as the Republic Of Story®, even registered it as a trademark, with a renewed and reenergised focus, more than ever, on developing original story intellectual property, for a global audience, from Scotland, for any platform.
